Munich (dpa) – Scenes with an angry goblin – these are what Pumuckl spokesman Maxi Schafroth always wanted to shoot at the end of a working day. His reasoning: “When Pumuckl is grumpy and when he screams and stuff like that, it’s often difficult,” said the actor and cabaret artist at the premiere of the film “Pumuckl and the Big Misunderstanding” in Munich. After that, his voice always needs some time to recover. “In the evening, I’m at home very quietly.”
The goblin’s voice is “purely a matter of practice”
In fact, Schafroth lets the cheeky goblin scream, laugh, sing and do nonsense in the “Pumuckl” series as well as in the film. In order to achieve this smoothly, he contacted a former acting teacher who prepared him for the role in which Schafroth lends his voice to the cartoon goblin. His recipe for overtaxing the vocal cords: “You have to warm up well.” Then raise your voice pitch. “Otherwise it’s just a matter of practice.”
Naughty children, maypole thieves and a leprechaun
The film opens on October 30th. As in the new “Pumuckl” series on RTL+, there is a lot of excitement here again. Carpenter Eder (Florian Brückner) travels to the countryside to help the widow of his former teacher. But the journey is not calm and relaxed, instead there is great chaos. This is ensured by naughty children, maypole thieves and of course Pumuckl, who actually just wanted to help.
Marcus H. Rosenmüller is again directing. Gisela Schneeberger, Ilse Neubauer and Robert Palfrader also play in roles. The film and series continue to tell the stories of Pumuckl and Master Eder, which have thrilled generations of children.
The radio plays and the old TV series from the 1980s based on the books by Ellis Kaut have now acquired cult status. Pumuckl was voiced by Hans Clarin at the time, Gustl Bayrhammer played Master Eder in the series and also took on the role in some radio play episodes.
