The catalog of Hulu is one of the most varied among streaming services, bringing together original productions, award-winning hits and epoch-making films. From intense dramas to smart comedies and tension-filled thrillers, the platform has options for all tastes.
In the following list, we have put together 8 of the best films to watch on Disney+/Hulu, ideal for those who want to enjoy the best of cinema without leaving home.
Operation Revenge
Rami Malek returns to Mr. Robot mode in this technological thriller. The actor plays Charlie Heller, a CIA undercover agent who springs into action after his wife is killed by terrorists and the government doesn’t do enough to bring the killers to justice. Using his computer skills — as well as more physical tactics he learns from Agent Robert Henderson (Laurence Fishburne), who doesn’t believe Charlie is capable of pulling the trigger and taking a life — Charlie sets out on a mission of revenge. Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jon Bernthal also star.
Predator: Killer of Killers
Dan Trachtenberg (director of The Predator: The Hunt and the upcoming Predator: Savage Lands) took a break from directing live-action Predator films to make an animation. Predator: Killer of Killers is an R-rated anthology film that sees three of Earth’s toughest fighters from different eras—a Viking, a ninja in feudal Japan, and a World War II fighter pilot—face off against Predators who come to challenge them.
Summer of 69
Years after debuting on Saturday Night Live, Chloe Fineman finally has her first leading film role in this teen sex comedy from director Jillian Bell. Fineman plays an exotic dancer who a high school student (newcomer Sam Morelos) hires to teach him about sex in order to gain the confidence to seduce his crush before graduation. It’s a spicy comedy with heart in the style of Superbad and Bottoms.
A Complete Stranger
Timothée Chalamet received an Oscar nomination for his performance as the young Bob Dylan in this crowd-pleasing biopic. It’s not as transformative a performance as his Dune: Part II co-star Austin Butler, possessed by the spirit of Elvis Presley in Elvis, but it’s still very good. The film was nominated for Best Film.
The True Pain
Kieran Culkin won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for his funny and sad performance in this comedy drama. The actor stars alongside the film’s writer and director, Jesse Eisenberg, who was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. They play cousins who were close as children but grew apart, and who travel together across Poland in honor of their late grandmother, a Holocaust survivor. It’s a moving film about family, grief, and generational trauma that maintains a light touch even as it tackles heavy themes.
Alien: Romulus
The latest addition to the Alien franchise follows a team of young scavengers who board a seemingly abandoned spaceship in search of valuables. You and I both know that it’s not really abandoned, and that they don’t find valuables, but rather a killer alien. This is a fun sci-fi horror film that reinvigorates the long-running franchise.
Nobody Will Save You
This nearly dialogue-free thriller from Brian Duffield (Love and Monsters, The Babysitter) stars Kaitlyn Dever (Abby from The Last of Us) as a creative but lonely young woman named Brynn, whose alienation turns literal when aliens invade her childhood home one night. To confront her intruders, Brynn will have to face her past.
Palm Springs
The less you know about Palm Springs before you start, the better. This delightful sci-fi comedy stars Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti as two wedding guests who find themselves trapped in a time loop. Their performances are both silly and realistic, and there are plenty of surprises in every precious minute of this wild and incredibly fun romantic comedy.
