Everyone has that one classic film that you’ve seen a million times and would still watch again without thinking twice. Reviewing these works is like opening a window to the past and HBO Maxthe catalog is full of titles that have marked generations and continue to delight fans of all ages. I separated here five unmissable classics that combine history, quality and that unique feeling of watching something timeless.
I reviewed them all recently and I can say: each one of them continues to surprise, whether due to the powerful soundtrack, the unforgettable characters or the dialogues that we never forget. And if you’ve never seen any of them, enjoy it now, because these films are true cinema lessons!
1. A Clockwork Orange (1971)

If you haven’t watched this gem yet, you’re wasting time. Here, Stanley Kubrick delivers one of the most intense cinematic experiences, mixing futuristic aesthetics, a striking soundtrack and a disturbing narrative about human behavior. Malcolm McDowell plays Alex, a character who is fascinating and at the same time very uncomfortable, challenging morality and questioning social and political manipulation.
Not everyone likes to enjoy this classic, because in reality it is an uncomfortable and provocative journey, which makes us think about the nature of violence, the power of institutions and the limits of freedom of choice. But it’s a film to watch carefully and with an open mind, each review brings a new impact.

2. Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
Released a decade ago, George Miller reinvented his own universe in “Mad Max: Fury Road”delivering a masterclass in modern action. Think of a film full of insane scenes, practical effects and explosive cinematography — it’s action from start to finish. Charlize Theron plays the iconic Furiosa, one of the strongest characters in recent cinema, while Tom Hardy plays a silent, resilient and magnetic Max.
Everything is good in this film: the plot, the cast, the soundtrack, the colors, the speed. Simply a reminder that action cinema can also be art.

3. O Grande Gatsby (2013)
Another classic that I love is “O Grande Gatsby”a true visual and sound spectacle. Leonardo DiCaprio brings the mysterious Gatsby to life with intensity and charm, while Carey Mulligan shines as Daisy, delicate and tragic. The 1920s setting, combined with the modern soundtrack, creates that irresistible contrast.
Every time I watch it again, I feel like I’m part of the luxurious parties and also the loneliness that exists behind them. It’s a story about dreams, ambition and the price of seeking the unattainable. It’s definitely worth watching if you haven’t already.

4. Goodfellas (1990)
“Goodfellas” It’s Scorsese at his best. The film is a vibrant and brutal portrait of life in crime. Ray Liotta drives the narrative with raw sincerity, while Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci deliver iconic performances. Everything is meticulously constructed: the dialogue, the score, the rhythm.
Every time I watch it, I discover something new. If you pay attention, you always catch an expression, a scene detail, a hidden irony. It’s a classic that remains current and absolutely addictive.

5. Casablanca (1942)
In the heart of World War II, “Casablanca” mixes love, sacrifice and idealism with an elegance that never gets old. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman play Rick and Ilsa with irresistible chemistry, in a story that talks about courage and impossible choices.
For many, “Casablanca” is just another novel, but in my opinion it is more than that: it is a portrait of humanity in dark times. I often say that it is a timeless film that has aged very well and still portrays the reality of many people, even though it was released so many years ago.
