49th Mostra: see the program of restored films – 10/14/2025 – Cinema

The directorial debut of Portuguese Manoel de Oliveira or Brazilian Tata Amaral; a tribute to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War; a troubled classic with Gloria Swanson.

Aniki-Bobo

To get Teresinha’s attention, Carlito steals a doll to give her as a gift. However, during the game, Eduardinho suffers an accident, creating tension in the group. The film starring children marks Manoel de Oliveira’s directorial debut.

A Sky of Stars

Dalva works as a hairdresser at Mooca and wins a hair contest. As a prize, he wins a ticket to the USA and sees the chance to start a new life. Tata Amaral’s directorial debut.

Black Rain

Kuroi Ame. Japão, 1989. Dir.: Shohei Imamura. Com: Yoshiko Tanaka e Kazuo Kitamura, Etsuko Ichihara. 123 min. 14 anos.
In Hiroshima, five years after the atomic bomb, survivors still deal with consequences, such as black rain due to radiation. The short film “Alma Errante – Hibakusha”, by Joel Yamaji (19 min), will also be shown.

Cinema, Aspirins and Buzzards

In 1942, two men meet in the backlands. Johann is a German who fled the war and Ranulpho is a Brazilian who wants to escape the drought. Together, they travel to show films and sell medicines.

Chronicle of the Years of Fire

Chronicle of the Ember Years. Argélia, 1975. Dir.: Mohammed Lakhdar-Hamina. Com: Yorgo Voyagis, Larbi Zekkal, Cheikh Nourredine. 177 mins. 14 years old.
The plot narrates decisive moments in the history of Algeria between 1939 and 1954. Restored by
Bologna Cinematheque, was the first feature film by an Arab-African to receive the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Girl from Ipanema

Young Márcia frequents the beach, parties and circles of intellectuals to the sound of bossa nova. Uncertain
regarding the future, she represents part of the middle class at the time. Inspired by the song of the same name by Tom and Vinicius.

Lua Cambará – On the Palace Steps

A powerful colonel rapes a slave, who later has a girl. After her father’s death, she starts to behave like him: she tortures, kills and knocks down everything that crosses her path.

Queen Kelly

The cruel queen Regina the 5th is obsessed with her fiancé. But he falls in love with young Patricia Kelly and takes her to the palace. The film underwent cuts, generating different versions. Dennis Doros, responsible for the reconstruction, will participate in a panel on the restoration.

Sholay
